Propranolol
Propranolol belongs to the group of drugs called beta blockers. This medicine is available by prescription and can be used for the treatment of high blood pressure, chest pain and other circulatory conditions. The use of this drug in patients with asthma, allergies to propranolol or heart block is contraindicated as it may cause unpredicted and serious effects. Continue taking this medicine during the whole period recommended by your doctor to make sure you will benefit from it. If you are taking this medicine to treat high blood pressure keep taking it even if you feel better, as high blood pressure may display no symptoms.
Certain medical conditions require a dosage adjustment, so it’s important that you inform your doctor about having any of the following problems: diabetes, depression, circulation problems (slow heart rate, congestive heart failure), a thyroid problem, low blood pressure, heart failure, kidney or liver disease. This drug has been classified as FDA pregnancy category C as it can harm an unborn baby and pass into breast milk. Tell your doctor in advance if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Make sure you use a reliable method of birth control while using propranolol.
